Sheets And Canvas And Salty Dogs On

Published by lunarvol

Dear President and Madame Sarkozy,

Wondering here upon my feeling so much better about the fate of the world since your election and (the marriage, respectfully) on my time travel wonder-couch at Atelier & Lab #33 Life Central Station, where not only do I have access to the entire world and its history, but also to certain other areas, (exempli gratia: secret city beneath New Orleans’ — a dimension-beyond and below (pls. see another [besides many of your writers back a few score years] fan of Edgar Allan Poe: H.P. Lovecraft, if you would) — I found myself curious about how you found the music in “Glenn Gould, The Movie”. Most of which I think. & Most of which I think by J.S. Bach. Do you care much for late baroque music? Bach’s, in particular, care for do you? I have to say that I do.  Also and with certainty, the early and middle Baroque man of yours (1632 - 1687, as you will know) John-Baptiste Lully. What a composer of genius, Lully! is it not so? He really pushes my aesthetic-emotional-spirit intensive buttons.

I once owned a copy (vinyl) of Glenn Gould, a hero of mine playing J.S. Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier”. A remarkable rendition for a multiplex of reasons. Some day on a long sail to Marseilles, if I get an invitation, which would find me very pleased, I shall tell you about this recording and you, with a glass of Rouge gimbaled nearby during your initial visit of welcome [imagine this, all crisp, dry and fuzzy warm, while below the sheets and canvas and salty dogs on deck looking after your safety and privacy, surely, — and J.S. Bach on some fine French built-in techno player, dancing with the waves (entrancing them perforce in all-weather) including surface modulations of my own designer mouth in my Sang-froid! What a sunny day, Mr President and Madame Sarkozy!

But merely considering the delightful scenario, for now, yes, for now, sitting at Life Central Station… But when I do tell you about the multiplex of reasons, perhaps you will look for a moment to windward and say: “shipwright and composer are very similarly configuring professions, aren’t they, Wallace(?)” And I will agree. Then, my lovely Drew - B joining us, (she and your wife will find much common ground, I posit), we four shall modulate on to the réception… What a beautiful night you have planned for us! — we are both so very charmed, and so grateful. We would love it if you could join us on a pleasure cruise to Shanghai, soon! (The Sang-froid is very well-armed. Please, worry not on that score.)

Be well,
Wallace & Drew B.

P.S.: Drew and I would like to explicitly thank you, and the French people, again for that great ally and hero, Lafayette. We are so proud and fond of the Admiral’s history-changing help and loyalty. — Oh, the wife says to remind you how wonderfully conductor Pierre Boulez and Patrice Chireau (with his brilliant — radical — design shift into surrealism for Wagner’s Ring Cycle)
drove the local Bavarians a little (friendly) nuts at the 100th Jahre Bayreuth Festspiele. My Drew is  really a rascal, sometimes…
